Flora

Margarine.

Only joking! Of course I'm using the title 'Flora' in the plant sense.

Would you look at this then - an unscheduled, unexpected autumn/winter plant post! Full of surprises I am.

I did just write a paragraph to explain why my posts are very slow at the moment... But I figured, who's going to want to read that on New Years Eve? So instead, I'll simply say:

I hope you had a wonderful christmas and that you have a brilliant new year - because you all deserve it!

The Girl On Fire

The Girl On Fire!

No, I'm not talking about Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, but instead, my brilliantly fiery-haired model! She had said that the one comment she mostly got at school was 'Oh my god, your on fire!! ...Oh wait no, it's just your hair.' Hence the title. I had met and taken pictures of the model previously, at the wonderful Kings Weston House wedding event (click HERE for the post) and so decided to contact her and arrange our own shoot. I realised that I hand't actually done a proper shoot for over a month now, so I was eager to get back in the game... as it were.
It. Was. Freezing! I'm not sure how the model managed to lay around in leaves and jump into bushes in that black dress, but she did!

Incidentally, I do apologise for my recent inactivity! Been very busy. But I've got some very exciting shoots just waiting to be posted up, so keep an eye out!

Black dress & necklace - both mine and charity-shopped.

Statement

So I recently took some shots for a non-blog project with my lovely model Bala Piti, but they turned out quite nicely so I figured I should just put a couple of them up. I've also been slowly coming to terms with photoshop and so have edited the shots by messing around the colours on curves.

In Other News: I took some photos for Pretty Nostalgic magazine, which was fantastic! I have a severely overdue post about this that shall hopefully be coming soon. For reference though, my work has been featured in issue 9 of the magazine.

Glasses, necklace and shoes are mine - other clothes are model's own.

Tumblr 2

Well, since it went down so well last time, I have decided to do another Tumblr post. This showcases just a few from the many posters I create for my Rosa Fay Photography Tumblr page. As well as this, you'll also be able to find photos of mine that you won't find anywhere else - not even on the blog!

Do drop by and check it out!

Dramatic Duo

They're back! The dramatic duo of Charlie Steeds and Charlotte Roest-Ellis from THIS previous post. The shoot was rather hastily put together. As we all have very busy schedules, it was difficult to find a time space in which we were all free. We managed to set a time frame, and then, guess what? Rain. Lots and lots of rain. Buckets of it. The shoot was very almost canceled because of it, but I decided to continue and let the chips fall where they may. I had only ever done one other shoot in the rain, and that was a while back on the James Dean Inspired shoot.

So, we made our way to the church through many puddles, and began shooting. We had umbrellas, but I found it was actually more dramatic with the rain coming down. Because of this, more than a few times I would put the models in their places whilst they held their umbrellas. Then I would call 'umbrellas down!' and they would fling them out of shot and then proceed to get rained on whilst I quickly took the shots.  This did produce some wonderfully dramatic effects though - such as the first shot. The results are unlike any other shoot i've done, and i'm very pleased with that. Would I shoot in the rain again? Surprisingly, yes!

Shameless publicising:

Charlie Steeds is a talented horror film maker, so do check out his site HERE. Also check his Youtube page for his film trailers HERE.

Charlotte Roest-Ellis is an wonderful model and photographer. See her site HERE. Also check her Model Mayhem page HERE.

Charlotte is wearing my black ASOS dress.

Kings Weston House Wedding Fair (Models)

Last weekend I had an absolutely wonderful time taking pictures at the Kings Weston House Wedding Fair! I shall be doing a second post to this on the venue and fair itself, but for now, here are the models.

Amongst the numerous wedding stands was a room filled with makeup/hair and clothes designers, all working together to deck out many models, each with their own unique look. All of them though, had either a flowery or feathery theme to their hair fascinators. In short, they all looked amazing against the background of the venue

I could be found taking general pictures, or every so often i would pop up to one model and take them off to take some single shots.

It really was a lovely day, and shall be elaborated on in the next post!

Terribly sorry for the wait - I've been having a few technical issues.
Here it is though! The second Juliet post. Enjoy!

Juliet (Part 1)

We have a new face on these blog pages!

I had been planning the idea for this shoot for a long time, only I had been struggling to find the right model for it. I wanted someone who was very pure (english rose type) and I found her at the Clifton Hill Costume & Textiles Launch Night - The photos of which can be found HERE. We got to talking and I found out that she was actually a big fan of my lovely friend Roz's blog, Clothes, Cameras & Coffee.
Luckily we got some beautiful sunshine for the day and gave me another chance to utilize my new lens! A very successful shoot!

The dress used here was another from my Grandma's wonderful vintage clothing archive! To see other pieces from the collection, look HERE

(This shoot will be spread over two posts, as I just wasn't able to narrow down the shots!)
