So! It's time to start actually posting pictures on here again!

Like I said before transferring over to www.rosafay.co.uk, this blog will now be a base for all the general photography I do that no one ever sees.

I have done Slimbridge posts in the past which have been fairly popular, so, four years later, I thought I'd do another one! 

(The images were in fact taken last year, I just hadn't gotten round to posting them up yet).

All Creatures Great And Small

These are animal shots that I collected in my 'summer' holiday travels. I put that in quotation marks because we all know how much sun we really got this summer.

The first two shots are from a walk I took around Chagford - A beautiful place, I could certainly see myself living there when I get to be middle-aged.

The second two are from Bath. I was sitting outside a restaurant/cafe with Roz (See HERE for the post on our trip to Bath) looking down at the swans in the river and there was this one particular one that was constantly cleaning itself. I'd never seen a swan act that way before. Didn't realize how bendy a swan's neck was either. One minute it was rubbing its head down the full length of its body, the next it was flapping its wings in a peculiar manor - I suppose I could compare it to the way that children flap their elbows when they pretend to be chickens.

The last two shots are of a lovely cat who came waltzing into my grannie's house during my stay in Devon. She didn't own the cat, only said she had seen it a couple of times. It was very affectionate. I think all it was looking for was a good belly rub.

Out Of Place (Update!)

It has been way too long since I've done a post - this is mainly due to technical difficulties but I wont get into that right now. However, you will all be pleased to hear that I now have quite a few shoots backed up and ready to be posted! Three of these shoots are with the lovely Roz of Clothes Cameras And Coffee (Used in the Summer Garden post and various others) due to our now annual get together. Trust me, your going to want to see them so stay tuned!

As for this post - These are three things that I found in my travels this month and thought that they where worth a post:

• The first shot was taken in Bath (during mine and Roz's day trip - more on that later). I found the giant chess set at the back of a building and thought it kind of odd. You don't see that every day. Where the pieces in the trash? Or just being stored there until the employees felt like having a game? Either way, it made for an interesting shot.

• This one really is strange! The second shot was taken outside a Waitrose store car park, deep in the countryside (So deep that not only had it taken two and a half hours to get there but also I had never in my life heard of the place name nor would I be able to recall it). 

At first glance I was worried that the cat was dead, but thankfully It was just laying there in the trolly's child seat, asleep. To my surprise it wasn't phased at all by any of the noisy cars or dogs that passed. Fortunately, most people that passed didn't disturb it but merely cooed at it for a moment and then moved on. When I came back out the shop later, I saw that it was lazily stretched across the seat, purring.

• The third shot was taken somewhere in Chagford. I am actually dying to go back there with a model as I found loads of amazing settings for shoots. I guess these doors where awaiting the chop as I found them at the back of someone's wood shed. They did look obscure against the leafy background of the countryside though.

Birdies

Bird posts always seem to go down very well so here is another one! All shots were taken at completely different times/occasions. To see bird posts from before, look HERE and HERE.

In my current predicament I feel compelled to quote Mrs Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility: 'If you can't think of anything appropriate to say you will please restrict your remarks to the weather.' Im sure you will all agree that this quote pretty much sums me up. Therefore I shall - We have had some of the hottest days and I am currently basking in the sun and trying desperately to get some sort of tan. Really wishing I was in spain now though (It would certainly speed up the tanning process.)

Hampton Court

We visited Hampton Court the other day for the first time. It was amazing! And well worth the wait - I only say this because we spent about four hours trying to get there - half of that time was spent sitting in never ending traffic! Although the day was not terribly spectacular as the sun only seemed to come out when we were in the car and not outside (of course) - it didn't matter. 


We must have gone at the right time though as all the birds nesting there had had their babies! I was particularly fond of the ducklings in 6th picture as they had both their parents there to take care of all seven of them. They would follow their parents around, eating the grass, and whenever their parents sat down, all the babies would heap together in a little feathery clump to keep warm.

The gardens of Hampton Court were absolutely stunning! I thought that all this dreary, wet weather had stopped the flowers from coming out - but I was quite wrong! There were flowers of all types there in full bloom. The colours were spectacular! my most favorite flowers where the ones in the 3rd and 4th pictures. The colours went perfectly together. From afar I thought the blue flowers were purple but then quickly realized that the only reason for that was the bright red flowers setting off the blue. Blue + red = purple.

If summer ever gets here, I highly recommend traveling to Hampton Court, it makes a wonderful day out and a great place for taking photos! I've decided that at some point in my life, I will go back there with a couple of models for a proper shoot.

Now For something completely different: Just so you know, I have a shoot scheduled for the end of this week. I know its a little redundant saying this because usually when I tell people whats going to happen, something goes wrong to prevent it. Fingers crossed though! I will be shooting my Mulberry Trench on a model. Watch this space and hope for the best!
