Snow Walk

To everyone's suprise, we got snow! Two days after christmas.

Only a thin layer, but enough to have snowmen popping up everywhere.

It's been so long, I'd actually forgotten what it felt like to hold a snowball.

Darkened Valley

Have just arrived back from being in the countryside for a week. Naturally, I took the camera and ended up taking pictures in a forest during a very misty, gray day. Here are the results!

This post is named after a particular piano piece by John Ireland that my dad used to play when I was little. It's always been a favourite of mine. Listen.

I recently went down to Devon for the weekend, and visited all our family's old beach haunts. Now, I've been to these beaches millions of times in my life - ever since I was very little - and have taken millions of photographs. I know them like the back of my hand. However, this time was different. I saw them differently. Recently, I've been getting into abstract and alien styles of work, such as artists like Filip Hodas, Alison Johnson and Slime Sunday. It was through the influence of these artists, (plus an absolute love for the beautiful, yet warped and experimental music of Baths - Favourite songs are currently 'Heart' & 'Maximalist') that when I went to my past-time beaches, I began to see them as alien lands. I had Interstellar in mind, and imagined myself in another world, on another planet, and photographed the natural forms accordingly.  

From these images, my three planets were born: Cochineal, Cerulean & Concretion. Imagine, if you will, that the images are taken on other planets, the shots used as records for the unexplored worlds. 

Come to think of it, this particular series is like an updated version of the incredibly popular Natural Forms post I made years ago (to date it has had 23,920 views!). Beware when viewing though, the photography is very old!

Fog

             

It was a frosty autumn afternoon when these images of the cliffs by the River Avon were shot. I'd never seen fog like this before, and it was beautiful! Almost reminded me of those incredible shots of mist rolling off of the mountains in the new Macbeth film (Incidentally, my most favourite film since watching Inception. Seriously, I was so awe-struck that I was literally frozen to my seat during the credits!)

Autumn 2015

Autumn always seems to whizz buy for me. One moment there's colours everywhere and the next the trees are bare! However, this year, I finally got around to walking about and taking photos of the leaves before it disappeared.
