I was invited to photograph the DFV show last year, and had such a fab time that I was eager to catch it again this year! If you love everything vintage and retro, nothing is better than this event! Stalls of vintage clothing, war guns, vintage books, cars, tractors, army vehicles, army demonstrations, 1930s music performed live, dancing, WW2 tent pitching, hair styling and makeup, etc. As well as this, most of the people at the event dress up in clothing from the era! 

It's an amazing two days full of stuff for everyone -  Watch out for next years show!

Innocence (Turn Around)

So, I'd been considering doing a shoot like this for a while, but I wanted to find a model that would be comfortable in that sort of situation. So, in the end I settled on the model I had used before in 'The Devon Summer'. That shoot was done such a long time ago, I find it fascinating how much my photography has changed since then.

The post is labeled thusly because one, the 'Innocence' is an inside joke and the 'Turn Around' is due to the fact that I asked the model to turn around a few times so I could get different angels of shots. However, every time I said those words, the lyrics to Conor Maynard's 'Turn Around ft. Ne-Yo' would invariably slip out. Therefore, every time I asked the model to do so, I would suddenly break out into song. ...Yeah. I am always the professional. 

(The model from the next shoot coming up also pointed out that I could have broken into 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart' by Bonnie Tyler as well - More on that later).

Feathers (Update)

Hey everyone! This is just a quick post to say Happy New Year and may your 2013 be a good one!

I am presently lining up various shoots so hopefully some of those will be taking place at some point (once this darn weather clears up!)

The shot we have here is just something I did on the spur of the moment. Saw a feather bower lying around, grabbed my unsuspecting mini model and slung it over her head. Only took two shots. This was the first shot, the second was the feather bower slipping and falling over her face in a blurred mass.  Have kind of been unsure of the shot (might re-do it at some point) but see what you think!

YOLO (You Only Live Once)

Yes, YOLO had to be the main title for this post as it was the catchphrase we applied to everything during our trip to Manchester.

We had some time to kill after booking into a hotel so we ended up sitting around in a deserted canteen for a bit (as it was way too cold outside!) Whilst we were there, sitting amongst christmas trees that gave off electric shocks and listening to two TVs play two different songs at the same time, I realized there was the most lovely light streaming through the windows. The light was from the beginnings of a beautiful sunset and since the windows had white flower patterns on them, they cast great shadows on the wall opposite. So, we got up, pushed away a collection of baby highchairs from the wall and took some snap shots. 

This was using the model from the 'Black & Red' shoot.

Update! (Chocolate and B&Ws)

I am back! Very sorry that nothing has been happening for a while. I have currently been dealing with technical difficulties... and a cold. However! These difficulties have been over-passed and so finally I shall be able to get going on some more blog posts! *Cue audience clapping*.  I'v had pictures slowly stacking up back here, waiting to be shown. I shall have more autumn shots, Devon shots, london shots- but most importantly, a photo shoot I did for a chocolatier. Yes, you heard me correctly. If you love chocolate, then your going to adore this next post. Stay tuned!

Random Shots & Update

Do not worry my fellow viewers. I am not gone. I am always here, figuring out the next post. I feel like I haven't posted for ages but its only been about 10 days. The reason for this is that I've recently been warding of a stupid cold which - thankfully - is now gone. Now I'm just thinking toward the next shoot. Also, this ridiculously rainy weather is not helping things at all. I am very eager to get the next shoot underway though, just waiting for inspiration to strike!

Oo, as I've just remembered - there will be some new shots appearing on the blog very soon of a short shoot I did with a new mini model (thats right!). The shots turned out very nicely but now I'm going to have to refer to them as mini model number one and mini model number two, haha!

(Lets hope that I can actually find these new mini model shots. I have so many files from different shoots stacked up on several hard drives that its impossible to find anything these days!)

Noir

They're back! Me and the models from 'The Accomplices' shoot (Link here) joined up to do some more photography. It was this time held in an indoor location known as The Clifton Club - a most prestigious and gorgeous, private men's club. It is so well hidden away that before I was introduced to it, I didn't even realize that there was a building there. The inside decor is absolutely fantastic and almost seems to date back to the 1940s - hence it being the perfect the venue for the photo shoot.

The male model's clothing is his own (as well as the gun - I'll get to that later) but the female model's clothing, I supplied myself. The outfits consist of a mix of vintage, some from my grandma's collection and some from my mother's. The coat from the 1st shot and the wonderful dress from the 3rd and 6th shots are from my mother's collections.

For the other pieces, I once again went hunting through my grandma's various boxes and came back with a bag overflowing with clothes. From my grandma's collection is the black dress (5th shot) as well as the black gloves and shawl. The leather handbag (5th shot) is my own, bought from a vintage market not too long ago.

The male model is Charlie Steeds, a filmmaker specializing in horror. Check out YouTube for a range of clips and trailers from his films. He was able to supply the gun for the shoot, as it had been one of the props for his films.
