We have a new face on these blog pages!

I had been planning the idea for this shoot for a long time, only I had been struggling to find the right model for it. I wanted someone who was very pure (english rose type) and I found her at the Clifton Hill Costume & Textiles Launch Night - The photos of which can be found HERE. We got to talking and I found out that she was actually a big fan of my lovely friend Roz's blog, Clothes, Cameras & Coffee.

Luckily we got some beautiful sunshine for the day and gave me another chance to utilize my new lens! A very successful shoot!

Finally got around to doing another fashion shoot with Bala Piti, my lovely model from THIS post who incidentally is now featured on the Motel website for her modeling for I Love Crafty. Click HERE to check it out!

So I recently got a lovely new lens for my camera and I'd been desperate to try it out in a shoot. The differences between my new and old lenses was ridiculous. These images required hardly any editing all - just a minuscule amount of brightening! 

We began shooting but the lighting was so bright that it was difficult to see the image results. I found a bit of shade as we changed location an glanced down at the screen. I blinked (What?! Oh my god!) and began pushing the screen to the model saying "Look! Look!"

Well, its safe to say that we where both very pleased with the outcome!

Random Street Style

 

 

Here are a couple of awesome street stylers I managed to grab pictures of. Each picture is from a different time (none where taken in the same place) and each has its story.

The first shot was taken in manchester during The Voice 2013 live recordings. I know what your thinking: No, I did not audition for The Voice - I went along with a relative who did. This shot was taken around the same time as the 'Yolo' post. I caught this guy standing outside the building as we were going to get some coffee. The day was grey, very windy and damn cold so I only had enough body warmth to take two shots. I am pleased to say that this guy, along with his friend, did the live audition on The Voice and went into Jessie J's team. (I am not sure of their names but if they are reading this, totally email me your names and I shall credit you here!)

The second shot was taking during the Bristol Festival Of Nature. I was assisting out at the festival taking shots and other various things (I had a walkie-talkie, I felt like a secret agent). I found this lady looking round one of the festival's marquees. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera on me at the time so I had to run and grab it. Luckily I managed to find her again to take a shot of her beautiful coat!

The third shot was a first in a way. It was the first time that I'd actually half-chased someone down to get a shot of them. Understandably she was wearing earphones so I think I must have startled her a bit when I suddenly tapped her on the shoulder asking to take a picture of her and her awesome tattoos. For those who don't know, the arm tattoos are Kodama spirits from a film called Princess Mononoke (pictured below).

Bright Eyes

Here is a portrait shoot I did with this lovely lady. I'd sort of known her previously although I had never really talked to her. However, I had always been interested in her beautiful eyes and bright blond hair.

My lovely model from THIS and THIS shoot emailed me recently offering us the chance to sample Clifton Vintage Boutique's clothing. Of course, I said yes immediately. As far I was concerned, this was a dream come true, as I have always loved this shop immensely. We where given the keys  to the shop for an afternoon whilst the owner was away. I arrived before the model so i had a chance to go through and pick out some outfits to shoot. I was literally like a kid in a sweetshop - so many beautiful things, it was difficult to decide!

We also got the chance to use the Sweetie Pie sweet shop as a setting for one of the outfits! (Shown in the last two shots)

Fierce

The premiss for this shoot was rock-chick. I started by gathering up an album of inspiration images (a couple of which are shown below). I was planning the shoot a week in advance - preparation time - but the model said she was free the very next day so we threw everything together instead and shot then. Luckily we found some graffiti round the corner from me so we didn't have to go far. Plus, we actually got some sun. I know, right? Sun! As well as very strong wind which made the whole shoot that much more dramatic.

The outfit was made up of: My black pure leather jacket, Primark Leopard top, black wedges, black skirt and tights.

I feel like the only song thats going to describe the feel for this shoot is 'My Iron Lung' by Radiohead. Click HERE to listen. (Im not even a fan of Radiohead but I recently found this song and just thought it suited the theme perfectly. Great one to rock out to!)
