The Afternoon Sun

More experimental mini shoots with my mini model. The day had been absolutely gorgeous, with full sun, shining through the windows. It was casting great, strong shadows onto the setting I was thinking of using. But of course (as always), as soon as we got out there the sun decided to whizz behind the clouds. Because of this, I didn't quite get the effect I was hoping for. However, I think the shots still came out nicely.

This was styled by the mini model and includes the fake Dior sunglasses (used before in THIS post).

All Creatures Great And Small

These are animal shots that I collected in my 'summer' holiday travels. I put that in quotation marks because we all know how much sun we really got this summer.

The first two shots are from a walk I took around Chagford - A beautiful place, I could certainly see myself living there when I get to be middle-aged.

The second two are from Bath. I was sitting outside a restaurant/cafe with Roz (See HERE for the post on our trip to Bath) looking down at the swans in the river and there was this one particular one that was constantly cleaning itself. I'd never seen a swan act that way before. Didn't realize how bendy a swan's neck was either. One minute it was rubbing its head down the full length of its body, the next it was flapping its wings in a peculiar manor - I suppose I could compare it to the way that children flap their elbows when they pretend to be chickens.

The last two shots are of a lovely cat who came waltzing into my grannie's house during my stay in Devon. She didn't own the cat, only said she had seen it a couple of times. It was very affectionate. I think all it was looking for was a good belly rub.

Psst: There's another shoot coming up. Click HERE for a preview.

Noir

They're back! Me and the models from 'The Accomplices' shoot (Link here) joined up to do some more photography. It was this time held in an indoor location known as The Clifton Club - a most prestigious and gorgeous, private men's club. It is so well hidden away that before I was introduced to it, I didn't even realize that there was a building there. The inside decor is absolutely fantastic and almost seems to date back to the 1940s - hence it being the perfect the venue for the photo shoot.

The male model's clothing is his own (as well as the gun - I'll get to that later) but the female model's clothing, I supplied myself. The outfits consist of a mix of vintage, some from my grandma's collection and some from my mother's. The coat from the 1st shot and the wonderful dress from the 3rd and 6th shots are from my mother's collections.

For the other pieces, I once again went hunting through my grandma's various boxes and came back with a bag overflowing with clothes. From my grandma's collection is the black dress (5th shot) as well as the black gloves and shawl. The leather handbag (5th shot) is my own, bought from a vintage market not too long ago.

Everyone loves free publicity, so in the sprit of this:

The female model is Charlotte Roest-Ellis, a model, photographer, musician and actress - a girl of many talents. Check out her artist Facebook page!

The male model is Charlie Steeds, a filmmaker specializing in horror. Check out YouTube for a range of clips and trailers from his films. He was able to supply the gun for the shoot, as it had been one of the props for his films.

The Flames of Liberation

Snazzy title, eh? Anyway, I figured it was about time to burn my old school books. All of them (Muhaha!). Here you shall find excerpts from 'Far From The Madding Crowd' (Hardy, last shot) 'Composed Upon Westminster Bridge' (Wordsworth, second shot) and a couple of my own notes. Did I feel guilty about burning all the work I had done? A little. But it was actually quite liberating.

Paradise

Now it is time for a break with some more natural photos whilst we wait for the next photo shoot to commence (If I can get it right, its going to look awesome!)

Most of these shots were taken in different places and at different times of day. All of them, however, were taken in Devon - my second home. My obsession with the sky continues. Not joking, half my camera is always full up with sky/cloud pictures. I guess its a guilty pleasure in some ways.

Vintage White Lace & Green 2

Ok, I couldn't resist it. There were a few more pictures of this lovely model that I had to just put up. Enjoy!

Vintage White Lace & Green

Here is a shoot I did a couple of days ago. I shot in Ashton Court and once again utilized my grandma's wonderful vintage clothing collection. I actually had a little trouble in deciding which shots would be used in the post - I liked so many of them!

When I had arranged the shoot with the model, I knew that I'd wanted her to try on the green dress (used once before here) so I spent an hour or two hunting through many, many boxes for the particular piece. Through hunting though, I found this white lace dress - a piece that I'd never seen before.

I initially had a different idea for the white dress, but to be honest I think it worked a lot better this way. When looking at the model's fantastically wild hair paired with the white dress, I was vaguely tempted to do a Wuthering Heights/Catherine Earnshaw shoot. But for that, I realized I would need a moor and also grey or dark weather. Instead, I decided on using the sun whilst we still had it and promptly dropped the idea.

The model was wonderful to work with, she didn't even complain when I made her walk through a ring of stinging nettles to get to a particular tree! I must admit, as always, I had been considering this model for quite some time before I finally decided on using her, but I'm glad I did. We had funny conversations to and from the location, agreeing on how awful we both were at giving directions, making comparisons on how stupid and yet adorable our cats were, and relating to various 'incidents' that had previously happened.

All in all, a great day!

(Oh yes, and just in case you were wondering, the apple in the 5th shot is not a Twilight representation. Got it in the charity shop. Thought it was cute)

Roz Shoot 3: Yellow Dress

Again, another gorgeous day (Rosalind Jana must have brought the sun with her when she arrived!), so much so that we decided to take a walk and take some pictures along the way.

We walked through Clifton, nipping into various charity shops and having a glance into 'Lahloo' cafe, my most favorite place to be as they make the best cheese scones and darjeeling tea. We went there for brunch on our last morning and I can say confidentially that we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. (Roz would recommend the french toast).

From there we strolled up onto the Downs, taking pictures among a large patch of yellow flowers on the way there, then resting for a bit as we discussed reality and general philosophical points on life.
On our way back - amongst getting harassed by leering, middle-aged men who had nothing better to do than to drink themselves silly at three in the afternoon and harass young girls - we bought some cold drinks and sat in the park. What a wonderful day.
